Quaint Quant of the Year
Jeffrey Ryan - 2026
Jeff is a legend that many don’t know but have interacted with his work. He has spent two decades building finance in the open. From authoring packages downloaded 200+ million times (quantmod and xts) and cited in over 750 books and papers, to building one of the first applied quant conferences in the world now in its 18th year. He’s consulted hedge funds and high net worth traders, and spent a large part of the last decade helping to build Citadel’s GQS business – including data, risk, alpha and hpc systems. He left in 2019 and in 2020 began work on software that has led to two launches: a software scheduler called rpeat designed for data and alpha pipelines, and in 2024 began full time work on QUANTkiosk, a data-centric business he now runs – focused on making investment-caliber data available to research teams and individuals to power the next generation of lean hedge funds and investment decisions.
He is also the found of the Open Source Quantitative Finance conference which brings together quants and those who love giving back to the open source community.
